In the electrical conduit market, marine environments offer sun, sea and the occasional unique installation. That was just the case at Washington, D.C.’s Reagan National Airport.
Enhancements to lighting along a runway pier over the brackish waters of the Potomac River necessitated upgraded conduit strong enough to withstand the elements. Other conduits were considered, but none provided the lightweight nature of Champion Fiberglass conduit, while also maintaining the strength and integrity required to endure corrosive saltwater and sun exposure.
Imagine lifting a nearly 100 lb. piece of conduit overhead from a raft. That’s what was required of this job, so a comparable 8 lb. piece of fiberglass conduit at the same length was a welcome relief.
